Free Chapter of Mind Rooms, the Excentration e-book

You cannot enter a full room

You cannot go to the center when many are already gathered in the center.
Before that, you must make sure that space is created in the center, in
the center.

Why you never concentrate with an overwhelmed head

When the head is full of thoughts, appointments, worries, plans, ideas,
tasks, then logically there is no room for the one important topic.
Because everything seems important at once.
And so it comes to a mental competition.

The conscious will say: “Concentrate at last! Get a grip.”

But how is it supposed to work?

Simple example: a parking garage
If a parking garage is occupied, I can’t drive in.
Period.

No matter how much I want to, the parking garage is occupied.
All the will in the world is useless.

And what if I try to drive into the garage at speed and push the other cars away?

Then there will be fender benders and excitement from the owners of the
other cars (compare to this: Excitement about the thoughts to be pushed
away).
You also can’t just come in with a forklift and haul away what’s in your
way. Not in your head, and not in a parking garage.
So how can you get free space in your mind when there is none at
the moment?

Never try to force your brain.

It will refuse, and that is a sign of health, not of disorder.
Have you tried with all your might not to think a thought?
Have you wanted to “get a grip” on your thoughts, chase them away, or
erase them?
Nothing is gained by will or power if there is no room in the head at the
moment because it is too crowded there.
This can lead to an inner boycott and, in the long run, to a mental and
physical general strike, to which some also call “burn-out.“
Thoughts cannot be commanded. You can’t force thoughts to pull a
waiting number and sit for an hour or two, like at the office.
You do need another way.

Here it is.
The concept of “Excentration”

Excentration in a nutshell:

1. Build a special space in your mind for each type of thought.
2. Then invite any thoughts that arise to take a seat in the ideal thought
space. Assure them that you will come later and make time for them.
3. For now, focus on Topic A.
Is it really that easy?
Let’s see.
